Julie Amthor specializes in uncontested divorces and provides a variety of document preparation services, which are very cost effective, including:


  • UNCONTESTED FULL DIVORCE: Uncontested divorce from start to finish, starts at $1000.00 (without children) to $1450.00 (with children), plus $435.00 filing fee required by the court to open your case; Clients can apply for a fee waiver if they are receiving government assistance

  • INITIAL DIVORCE DOCUMENTS: Draft a Summons, Petition for Dissoluition/Legal Separation, Declaration UCCJEA, Property Declaration; Custody/Visitation forms; This process opens your matter with the court, and once filed and served, starts the clock ticking (takes 6 months to obtain a divorce in California)$400.00 and up

  • FINAL DIVORCE DOCUMENTS: Finish up divorce, once it's been filed, served, and disclousres have been completed; File final Judgment for Divorce and accompanying required documents, $500.00 and up

  • STIPULATIONS: Child Custody, Child Support, Child Visitation, Spousal Support modifications that are done outside of court, and filed with the court (for parties that agree on changes, that want to stay out of the courtroom) $450.00 and up

    • Filing fee $435 (Contra Costa County Superior Court Clerk filing fee) Plus the paralegal fee of:
    • Full Uncontested (start to finish) Divorces without children start as low as $1000.00; Uncontested divorces with children, start as low as $1450.00

  • COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS TO OUR PARALEGAL:

    • HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FINISH MY DIVORCE? it takes 6 months in the State of California to obtain a divorce, but Contra Costa County takes approx 10-12 months to process final Divorce Judgments
    • CAN BOTH PARTIES BE INVOLVED TOGETHER?  I work with 1 party in uncontested cases, as the parties need to be able to communicate with work through all the language for your divorce.  We are not mediators or therapists; we simply are drafting the required documents as directed by the client. 
    • WHAT IF WE START THE PROCESS AND MY SPOUSE WON’T COOPERATE ANYMORE? HOW DO I FINISH MY DIVORCE? Our Paralegals draft initial divorce documents in a legally precise way, so that most, can finish up their divorce by “Default”; or they hire an attorney if needed
    • AFTER MY DIVORCE STARTS, CAN I STILL HIRE AN ATTORNEY IF NEEDED?  Yes.
    • WHAT IF I CAN’T PAY MY COURT FILING FEE?  You can request a fee waiver from the courts.  These are additional documents filled out by you and filed with your initial divorce documents.  The court may waive fees; may issue a hearing date for you to appear regarding your income; or ask you at a later date to pay your filing fee.
    • ARE THERE ANY FEES THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN MY DIVORCE?  Yes, we do not cover any process server fees; court courier fees; fax & file fees; additional filing fees that the court may request; or additional legal matters that arise from the opposing party contesting the divorce

    • We will further email you a “paralegal questionnaire” to fill out along with directions to get started/how to pay fees
    • Paralegal fees are paid by check or cash only.
    • We further prepare drafts for your review/signature and court filing
    • We streamline the process, as your time is very important; we do most of our work via email and phone, which makes it so that you only need to be in our office for 1 appointment.
